NMC will accept an IELTS Academic Examination certificate that confirms the following results:
- An overall score of at least 7
- At least 6.5 in the writing section and at least 7 in the reading, listening and speaking sections
Both the paper based and computer based IELTS Academic test delivered at a test centre are accepted.

You can achieve the required mark across two test sittings if:
- You sit the tests within six months of each other
- You are tested in all four sections at the same time
- All scores in both sittings are above 6.5
- You achieve at least 6.5 in the writing section and at least 7 in the reading, listening and speaking sections in either of the two test sittings
You can book for your test on the British Council website and selecting the country.

NMC will accept an OET Examination certificate that confirms the following:
- At least a grade C+ in the writing section
- At least a grade B in the reading, listening and speaking sections
OET on Paper, OET on Computer and the OET@Home are accepted.

You can achieve the required mark across two test sittings if:

CBT Question Bank - Adult Nursing (RNA)
CBT Question Bank - Mental Health Nursing (RNMH)
CBT is split into two parts:
- Part A covers numeracy. Duration is 30 minutes and consists of 15 questions
- Part B covers clinical questions for nursing or midwifery. Duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes and consists of 100 questions
Cactus Healthcare Solutions will help you with booking your CBT. Once we have confirmed that you need to take the test of competence, Pearson Vue will send you an email confirming that your account has been created and a temporary password to log in.
NMC will require that you provide evidence throughout your application process to show how you meet the registration requirements.
We strongly recommend you gather your evidence before you start your application. NMC will provide you with a pre-application checklist.
